The budding yeast, a classic cell cycle regulation model

The budding yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) model has shown to be a powerful tool to study eukaryotic cell cycle regulation. The main biological functions of the cell are highly conserved between yeast and mammalian cells, making it a great model to understand processes such as the cell cycle, DNA damage checkpoint and many more. (, ) By thoroughly understanding the mechanisms involved in the regulation of the cell cycle and consequently, cell division, researchers are able to comprehend unregulated cell division and uncontrollable cell multiplication as is observed in cancers. () Over the years, we have worked with collaborators using this model and made available to the researchers antibodies against 3 different targets to study the yeast cell cycle process:  (MM-0281 and MM-0282),(MM-0273 and MM-0274) andor msd2 (MM-0192-100-1, 2 and 3) (,).
