SOD1 and ALS

The discovery of the implication of  in familial ALS has turned 25 this year.(1) ALS was discovered more than 100 years ago by the French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot. More recently, we were reminded of this terrible disease with the death of the astrophysicist Stephen Hawking and by the viral phenomenon of the Ice bucket challenge. Studies of the implication SOD1 mutants in ALS development has led to many discoveries and increased our knowledge on the mechanisms implied in ALS onset.(2) After all these years, these studies remain relevant and many potential role of SOD1 in ALS pathogenesis continue to emerge. From acting as a transcription factor to acting as a signaling molecule, many great discoveries are still to come.(3-4) Our 3 clones ,and  have been used in various publications over the years and we hope they will continue to help researchers around the world in their projects.
